My Mom told me about this yummy cake-like treat after seeing it on Facebook.
I believe her exact words (at around 11:00 a.m.) were: “I made this cake this morning. It was so good your father and I just finished the pan.”
Yup, sounds about right.
I picked up the ingredients. Literally. In one hand (1 box of angel food cake mix, 1 can of crushed pineapple). Sprayed my 9×13 with Pam, mixed them up (warning: don’t lick the spatula. Trust me on this one), dumped it in, baked at 35o for 30 minutes.
A very nice, light, sweet and tasty treat, in my opinion. Easy to have the stuff on hand for when you really NEED something
or just want extra-special wife/mom points for making DESSERT along with dinner.
It reminds me of my always-beloved pineapple dump cake, but without all that pesky butter. Next time, I might try adding some cherry pie filling in with the pineapple. Hmmm…..
